The Lenovo Flex 5 is a 13.3 inch laptop that weighs 2.05kg, which Lenovo claims makes it the lightest laptop in the world, and with that in mind it’s certainly a slim machine.

“Lenovo recently launched the FLEX 5 in India, a Chromebook that fits in the same line as the Google’s Pixelbook. In this review, we take a look at the FLEX 5 and see how this unique Chromebook stacks up to its rivals in the Chromebook world.”

LENOVO FLEX 5 CHROMEBOOK REVIEW The Flex 5 is a very capable device, and it’s priced to meet the needs of most people who are looking for an affordable laptop. If you’re looking for a laptop that can handle the everyday use of a college student, a business user, or a casual user, then the Flex 5 is a good option.

Lenovo produced one of the finest Chromebooks in 2020. It was a 10-inch Chrome OS tablet with a keyboard and touchpad that could be detached. The new Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 Chromebook, with a 13.3-inch display, is the upgraded version. It’s a two-in-one as well, although it’s more of a laptop than a tablet.

Because of its 10th-generation Core i3 CPU, the Flex 5 features a bigger display and better performance. Let’s take a closer look at the Lenovo Flex 5 Chromebook’s features.

Although the Flex 5’s design isn’t as appealing as Acer’s Spin 713, you can’t judge a book by its cover. It weighs 1.35kg and is 17mm thick, making it lighter and thinner.

The 13.3-inch displays fold back on Lenovo’s clever hinge to operate in tablet or tent modes, giving it a practical physical design. The body is entirely composed of plastic, but the lid is made of metal. Lenovo done a great job of arranging the colors in a pleasing manner. The bezels around the screen are small, with the exception of the large one below the display, and the dark grey keys add to the overall look. This Chromebook seems to be more advanced than it really is.

The Flex 5 isn’t as slim as the Asus Flip C436F, but it compensates with connection ports, including a USB 3.1 Type-A connector on one side and a USB 3.1 gen 1 Type-C port on the other. On the right side, there’s a volume rocker and an on/off button. The Flex 5 is also one of the more affordable Chromebooks with 802.11ax Wi-Fi in a 22 MIMO configuration, as well as Bluetooth 5 is the latest version of Bluetooth..

The 13.3-inch, 1080p touch display on the Lenovo Flex 5 Chromebook is straightforward and reasonable. It has enough sharpness and detail to be visually pleasing, but the colors might be more vivid. Although, at that low price, it’s unreasonable to expect a high-end screen. A digital-pen input is supported on the Flex 5 display. Unfortunately, the box did not include a stylus.

According to our colorimeter, the Flex 5’s display covers approximately 66 percent of the sRGB color spectrum. This score is lower than the typical Chromebook’s color gamut coverage, which is 79 percent. Unfortunately, when compared to its rivals, the Flex 5 falls short. More vivid screens are seen on the Asus Chromebook Flip C434 (93 percent) and the HP Chromebook x360 12b (79 percent).

On a bright and sunny day, the Flex 5 is unsuitable for usage. Its display is lower than the typical 275-nit Chromebook, with 226 nits of brightness.

For a Chromebook, the Lenovo Flex 5 Chromebook’s battery life is a little underwhelming (the average Chromebook has a runtime of 10 hours and 14 minutes). On the Laptop Mag test, which involves continuous web surfing at 150 nits of screen brightness, the Flex 5 lasted 7 hours and 20 minutes. This is less than the minimum 8-hour duration we suggest.

Longer battery life is available on the HP Chromebook x360 12b (8:06) and the Asus Chromebook Flip C434 (9:58).

The illuminated keyboard on the Flex 5 is pretty impressive. With a travel distance of 1.4mm, it’s ideal for quick typing sessions. Moving the power button to the right side of the keyboard also frees up space on the keyboard for a lock button. To go to the Chrome sign-in screen, press and hold the button in the top right corner.

Mylar makes up the multi-touch touchpad surface, which is less pleasant than the keyboard. Large fingers find it uncomfortable, and the keyboard deck’s stiff hinge and necessary flex make proper clicks and cursor motions difficult.

The Lenovo Chromebook Flex is currently out of stock. It was originally $410, but it is now priced between $480 and $490. The Flex 5 is well worth the money, even at this exorbitant price. The arrangement is exceptional and more expensive in the UK, at £530. The Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 Chromebook is currently unavailable in Australia, however the pricing has been translated to AU$578.

The Lenovo Flex 5 Chromebook is ideal for students, workers, and gamers that need a laptop for school, work, or pleasure. Those who are always on the go and need to work, as well as those who like viewing movies on their laptop. The Lenovo Flex 5 Chromebook, on the other hand, is not for tab hoarders or those who need big displays or enough of storage.

I’ve been a long time fan of the Google Android Operating System and was quick to jump on the Lenovo Flex 5 ChromeBook when it was announced. The Flex 5 is first in a new lineup of ChromeBooks, which will be available in two configurations: the regular Flex 5 and the Flex 5 Plus, which is geared more towards business users. The Flex 5 Plus comes with a more powerful version of the Intel Pentium N4200 processor and up to 16GB of RAM, as well as an optional NVIDIA MX150 graphics card and LTE connectivity..
