Your Tuesday news and more

Hold on to your cowls, folks…FirstShowing.net tells us that David Goyer is hard at work on the script for Batman 3. That’s right…the brilliant mind that helped conceive the scripts for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight is once again hammering away in the Batman universe. I am EXTREMELY geeked out about this because I’m such a huge fan of Christopher Nolan’s vision of the Batman character. These movies are dark and gritty, just like the comic portrays him. I can’t wait to see where this next movie takes the storyline. I just hope Goyer and Nolan don’t follow in Sam Raimi’s footsteps and combine several storylines for the third installment (i.e. see Spider-man 3).

Also, ScreenRant.com posted a casting update for The Thing prequel. It looks like, according to the article, Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Sky High, Live Free or Die Hard) and Joel Edgerton (Smokin’ Aces) are set to star in the flick. I like both of them and am eager to see the direction this movie takes the story (The Thing, by the way, is one of my Top 5 Favorite Movies of All Time, right behind Black Hawk Down). I just hope director Matthijs Van Heijningen stays true to the original creature special effects and uses props, latex, and models instead of CG. I’ll keep you updated on this project as I find out more.

Do you want to see a painting that depicts a herd of unicorns facing off against a horde of zombies? If you answered with an enthusiastic ‘YES!’ like I did, then click here.

And finally, Rotten Tomatoes gives us 25 Movies So Bad They’re Unmissable. I can’t believe they included Road House in this list, but I guess not everyone was a fan. Also, I happen to like Battlefield Earth and even own it on DVD. To each his own, I suppose. But I definitely want to see Death Bed: The Bed That Eats. THAT looks like a classic in the making!!

That’s it for me for now. More later.
